I read all of the positive and
negative reviews before ordering this crate with cover. It was packaged
well. The instructions were clear and set up took 10-15 minutes. It
is really roomy and my 73lb Bulldog went right in. The wood looks great
and the cage is strong. I use only the front gate, so I put zip-ties
on the side door latches and top opening, although I don't think it
really needs it.
The wire is thinner than my old crate, which is also made of the black metal, but it is still sturdy. I used to have the really heavy silver steel crates but they are ugly and stronger than necessary. I guess if you have a dog you think might get out, you should use zip-ties all around and bungee the door when the dog is inside. The wood on the front does fall off if pushed hard enough, but I just put it on when he's not in it since I only use it when I'm not at home. Since I have to put my crate in my living room it's important that it fits in and looks good. Very pleased.
P.S. You can get a bag of small zip-ties for about 2 bucks at any hardware store or Wal-Mart, just for peace of mind.

I purchased this crate for my 7 month old mixed-breed puppy and I am sorely disappointed with this product. We left the puppy by himself for a half hour to get groceries. In that time, our 43 pound *puppy* had managed to bend the bars on the crate enough to break out of it. This is a complete ripoff and I can't in good faith recommend this crate to any pet owner, let alone someone with a dog larger than mine. I will be returning this shoddy crate.
